Alaska has thousands of miles of coastline and very few invasive marine species. The network seeks to engage citizen volunteers in the collection of critical background data on invertebrates in these areas, to facilitate the early detection of invasive marine species. These surveys help to detect a range expansion of non-native species into Alaska waters.
