The Great Scallop Search

During the month of July, trained volunteers conduct four 50-m transects within an assigned 1x1 nautical mile grid in the lower portion of Pensacola Bay.  Volunteers record data on seagrass diversity and abundance, as well as sediment conditions while searching for bay scallops.  Any scallops found are measured using a caliper and returned to the bay bottom.  Volunteers select the day(s) they would like to survey as long as it is during the month of July.
